【中文摘要】本论文旨在以佛学法相宗之唯识观点，探讨皮蓝德娄剧作《六个寻找作者的剧中人》以及<<亨利四世>>中对现实（Reality）的定义。正文共分四章。∵首章简述本文理论基础“唯识”，其余三章依该学之“三性”为架构，分别铺陈剧中人物按不同的认识所体验截然相异之现实。第一章先明唯识理论之基本论述；简陈该论中以方便世俗谛而说之“有”，以及真义谛所言之“万法平等真如”。再以“三性”--遍计所执性，依他（缘）起性，圆成实性--归结该宗“心外无法，一切唯识”的中心论点。次章入正题，剖析皮氏所指称之人类悲剧原由：执相。并以唯识家言遍计所执性呼应，以点明所有执之虚妄本性，同时为下一章的世俗谛之“有”预留伏笔。第三章探索皮氏于该二剧中所暗示之本有现实：依他（缘）起。继以依他起为基础，呼应其一切法无我之论证。末章则以唯识家言万法之终极现实：圆成实性，看待二剧中所揭示之真如本性。并论证皮氏在《亨》剧所提诸如游戏、非即非离之论述正为佛家一般所言之悟道不二法门：“活在当下”。

【英文摘要】This∵thesis∵aims∵at∵an∵exegesis∵of∵the∵"reality"∵presented∵in∵Pirandello's∵《Henry∵IV》∵and∵《Six∵Characters∵in∵Search∵of∵an∵Author》∵in∵the∵light∵of∵the∵Mere-consciousness∵doctrine.∵Its∵body∵consists∵of∵four∵chapters.∵Chapter∵One∵gives∵a∵rough∵sketch∵of∵the∵thesis's∵theoretic∵background.∵Chapter∵Two∵elaborates∵on∵the∵first∵cause∵of∵human∵miseries∵in∵Pirandellian∵terms--the∵working∵of∵thought∵or∵consciousness,∵complemented∵for∵elucidation∵with∵the∵"nature∵of∵merely∵imagination"of∵the∵doctrine,∵and∵points∵out∵the∵illusory∵nature∵of∵all∵one's∵attachment∵to∵the∵fictitious∵"forms."∵The∵following∵chapter∵attempts∵to∵explore∵the∵relatively∵truer∵reality∵hinted∵at∵in∵the∵two∵plays--the∵reality∵in∵nature∵dependent∵on∵causes∵and∵conditions∵for∵manifestation,∵hence∵ever-shifting.∵The∵last∵chapter∵starts∵with∵the∵Ultimate∵Reallity∵in∵Mere-consciousness∵terms,∵then∵deals∵with∵the∵final∵reality--"suchness,"∵plays,∵and∵finally∵argues∵that,∵in∵<,∵the∵practical∵wisdom∵of∵"neither∵attachment∵nor∵detachment,"∵as∵exemplified∵in∵the∵motifs∵of∵game,∵historical∵perspective,∵etc.,∵is∵precisely∵what∵has∵been∵termed∵in∵Buddhism∵generally∵the∵wisdom∵of∵"living∵here∵and∵now."
